Is Coaching for Me?

Would Coaching Work for Me?

Coaching works best with high achieving teens and adults who are motivated to take their lives to greater heights.

Your coach can help you design and achieve goals to further your career and enhance your personal life. Asperger Syndrome is not a mental illness and coaching is not therapy. We do not address clinical depression or other medical illnesses. Asperger Syndrome is simply a difference in the way your brain is hard-wired which gives you a distinct set of advantages and challenges that can be utilized just like any other physical trait.

Our clients have achieved changes such as receiving promotions at work and learning to reconnect with their families and spouses in a deeper manner. Our clients have completed unfinished projects, and achieved many various personal and professional goals.

What Kinds of People Are Your Clients?

Kristina Elaine's adult clients with Asperger Syndrome are often engineers and physicists, professors, software designers, accountants, doctors, attorneys, musicians, artists, and other professionals.

Some of Kristina's clients are self-employed, such as web designers or writers. Some are between jobs. It can be a challenge to find a jobs that are especially suitable for the unique set of Asperger traits. Most of Kristina's clients are middle-aged. The youngest are teenagers, the oldest are in their 70's. It is never too late to improve your life.

What Kristina's clients all have in common is the desire to become more proficient at what they love in life. They want to connect to those around them in more meaningful ways, and to learn to get the alone time they need, without alienating those in their life. They want to learn how to avoid the landmines of office politics, to learn how to attract customers, to win grants, and to network with their peers. They want to get along better with their friends, relatives and spouses. They want to learn to feel genuinely comfortable in a group. They want to learn to be satisfied with themselves with a deep and quiet contentment.

I'm in My 50's or 60's. Is it Too Late?

It is never too late to learn, grow, and develop new skills. It's also never too late to develop peace with who you are and what you have to offer the world. Kristina has successfully worked with several clients in their 70's.

What if I Don't Have an "Official" Diagnosis?

You will appreciate our insight if you have Asperger-like qualities, regardless of whether you actually have a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome. In addition to individuals with Asperger Syndrome, we work with spouses, partners, and family members of those who have, or may have, Asperger Syndrome.

Should I Tell My Friend or Family Member That I Think He or She Has Asperger Syndrome?

This is a personal decision and there is no one right answer. Often people are relieved to have an explanation.

Often the knowledge can open doors and help your friend or family member begin to learn to better cope with the difficulties, as well as take advantages of the unique opportunities of Asperger Syndrome. They may be relieved to know they aren't the only one out there, and be glad of the opportunity to attend local support groups or chat with other Aspies online. However, others may react with disbelief, defensiveness, or discouragement. To the extent possible, include positive information about Asperger Syndrome if you choose to discuss it with them.

Although everyone's reaction is different, we wish to share with you a couple of comments from Aspies who were diagnosed later in life:

  • "Hi, I'm a 47 year old man who as recently as last year discovered I'm Asperger. Now I've got a brand new exciting life ahead, finally no longer tethering myself on other peoples 'views' of who I should have been my entire life. What a relief."
  • "I wish I'd known all this a long time ago. My career would have been so much easier, and who knows, maybe my ex-wife and I would have been able to make it work." --Engineer, age 43

Last But Not Least...

Coaching works best when an individual wants to create something new in his/her life and is motivated to make changes. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to contact us if you are the person who wants coaching. However, if you are seeking coaching for someone else, because you think s/he will benefit from it, please be aware that it may not be nearly as effective as when that person decides on his/her own to seek us out.
