Job Coaching For Employees with Asperger Syndrome
Do You Have an Employee With Asperger Syndrome?
Is your employee bright and potentially very productive, but his managers don't understand him and his coworkers are wary of him?
Is he one of the most creative and brilliant guys you've got, but every time someone makes a suggestion he responds with all the reasons why it won't work?
You don't want to fire him....
He is the smartest one on the team, and his work is detailed, thorough, and accurate, and he's always available for overtime. But he is driving his supervisor nuts, his coworkers don't like him, he can't meet a deadline, and he never shows up to meetings. And if he does manage to attend a meeting he either contributes absolutely nothing or he dominates the meeting with long-winded, monotone lectures.
What can you do?
You can hire a job coach who specializes in teaching scientists, engineers, and other smart high-tech professionals to navigate office politics and become a more fully engaged member of the team.
What if I Don't Know if he Has Asperger Syndrome, or he Might Be Offended if I Suggest he Does?
We can still coach him. Kristina Elaine is a communication coach, and helps those with Asperger-like qualities to improve their communication and leadership skills regardless of whether or not they have an official diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome.
How Is Coaching Done?
Coaching is done over the phone. This is for two reasons. The first is for convenience. Your employee can be coached from his or her own home or office without having to commute. Secondly, coaching is done over the phone because it actually enhances the client's level of focus. The anonymity will also help your employee become open and receptive to the changes we will be working on.
What Are Your Credentials?
Kristina Elaine has been coaching individuals with Asperger Syndrome since 1999. She has a Master's Degree and has achieved the professional designation of a CPCC, Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. How Much Does Coaching Cost?
Corporate coaching costs $200 per hour of session time, including e-mail contact at no extra charge. We schedule and bill by the month and generally suggest weekly, hour-long sessions. A 3-month contract is required for corporate coaching.
How Will I Know My Employee Is Making Progress?
Together we will create a goal statement with specific focus areas. Then your employee will regularly provide you with updates of his or her progress. At the end of our predetermined length of coaching time, we will meet together and evaluate your employee's accomplishments. We have a common goal - your employee's progress. Together, we can achieve that goal.
